"Exciting" California Trip!

Ok so you can never accuse me of not loving my kids! Lol.. Recently all 5 of us ladies hit the road to pick up a puppy for Miss Ashley. She and Mandy have decided to raise Standard Poodles instead of Goldens. They are a super fun breed- very smart and non-shedding! ANYHOOO, why we had to travel 7 hours one way for the 'perfect one'.. wellllll-if you know us we'll do anything for our kids! Ashley paid for a rental car and got us a motel.. and we had a fun (?) 2 day trip getting Shirley, the red-headed poodle!

taking a break at the rest stop.

Our car was really fun! And only $50 a day! Super sporty and comfortable!

Lovely Mt. Shasta

The Siskiyous are so beautiful!

Things were going along great until.... we sat in 1 hour traffic just to find out that I-5 Southbound was closed to all traffic. We were diverted back to Northbound and had to take a 3 1/2 hour detour! :-O
Thankfully Ashley had brought two books on CD- 'By the Shores of Silver Lake' and 'Rainbow Valley' So at least we had something to pass the time! Our trip was extended by 5 1/2 hours that first day because of the road closure! I was SOOOO tired! And of course being the person who rented the car I was the only one allowed to drive it! AND it was Halloween! (have you ever noticed how much crazier people drive on Halloween after say, 9pm?? and especially in CA??)

So we finally got to the lady's house to get Shirley at 10:30 pm.. it was a dark neighborhood in a suburb of San Francisco.. kinda creepy and dark.. complete with all kinds of ghouls and goblins.. We finally got to the hotel at 11:30! That was an ordeal also.. Loud neighbors, car alarms going off.. peeling out and wild music late into the night!!! At around 2 am someone started pounding on the door of our hotel room! At that point in the night I was wishing the girls had decided to adopt German Shepherds.. or Pitbulls.. or something a little more- er, impressive and intimidating! "Watch out! We have a killer....poodle...in here!?"  :-) Quite an adventure! We *were* able to get some burgers at In-N-Out! That was worth the whole trip!!!

Miss Shirley! You were worth the trip! ( I think....!!!!)
