♥ 20 Year Wedding Anniversary ♥

For our honeymoon in 1991, we visited Astoria, WA and Seaside, OR. The first few photos were taken (over the years) in front of the same statue. We are so truly humbled when we look back to the beginning of our marriage and then look at it now. The most notable thing which is different now as opposed to then is that both of us, as well as our wonderful children have a very real relationship with the Lord Jesus! Since neither of us came from a God fearing family, that was a miracle (and struggle) for us. Although we have so many shortcomings and although we have so far to come, we marvel at the works of the Lords hands! We are blessed beyond measure.. May we, in all we do bring glory to his Holy name.

20 Year Anniversary! May 2011

We woke up on our anniversary.. the sun was shining brightly and we got a 'wild hair'! Grady called his boss to see if it would be possible to take the day off.. we threw a lunch together and jumped into the car and drove 2 hours to spend the day at Seaside to celebrate our special day. We had not planned on doing that ahead of time but that made it all the more special! The children, Mom and Dad had the most wonderful day, reminiscing, playing and fellowshipping with one another. Tears come to my eyes as I look at these photos and realize just how very blessed we are. Thank you Lord for 20 years together. Thank you for placing it on our hearts to homeschool our children which has allowed us to build these precious relationships and memories. Please help this Mama daily to become more and more like the Lord Jesus so that I can pour out even more to them.. and let the next 20 years be spent serving you and one another as you see fit.

Baptisms~

ΠΡΟΣ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΗΣΙΟΥΣ 1:6 Greek NT
πεποιθως αυτο τουτο οτι ο εναρξαμενος εν υμιν εργον αγαθον επιτελεσει αχρις ημερας ιησου χριστ;

Philippians 1:6 (New King James Version)
6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

So Grady, Ashley and I were baptized in a mega-church back in 2000. We had pre-recorded testimonies which were played on a huge screen on the wall of the church during our baptisms. Looking back, the three of us know we were not saved at the time.. We all felt a bit pressured to be baptized before really even understanding what it signified in our lives. Also, Mandy and Ryan had the same sort of baptism back a few years ago.

The Lord had been leading each of us individually for quite a while that it was *time* for a believer's baptism. (while we do not believe that baptism *saves* us, we do know that it is an outward obedience to our Lord and Saviour who asks that we do so. We believe that there is power in baptism in which we may not fully understand nor do we necessarily think at this point we need to fully understand. For our family the sybolizm of being buried with Christ, includes a complete commitment to living for Him for the rest of our lives.. 'Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.' KJV
At our Sunday meeting, Stephanie felt the Lord prompt her to ask us "Shouldn't you be baptized?" (now that you believe?)
Our family went home that night and all fell on our knees, crying out to the Lord in prayer. We had originally thought we would wait until we got to Belize but after praying, we knew the Lord wanted us to do it now. We couldn't get baptized soon enough as soon as we heard from him! What a special time as a family with the Lord.

For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. Galatians 3:27

Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Acts 22:16

There is also an antitype which now saves us, namely baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) 1 Peter 3:21

On the day of the baptism, the weather was just horrid. Heavy rain and 48 degrees outside. The kids were undeterred but we were concerned that it might be too much braving the torrential downpours, hiking down a slippery hill with our 2 families; 4 adults and 10 children. After praying,we decided to go ahead and meet at the trail which leads to the river as previously planned. As we arrived to the meeting place and as we got our of our cars, the rain stopped and the clouds literally parted and a patch of blue sky appeared just above the river where we were headed to! It took 15 minutes for us to hike in and clamber down the bank to the river. The clearing held. We had a very lovely baptism with our 3 oldest children, Praise the Lord! 45 minutes later after we hiked back to the cars and as we all got into our various vehicles, it started pouring rain again! It really was a miracle and gift! We invited brother Steve over for a late dinner and to our utter amazement, a florescent double rainbow appeared in our backyard. None of us had ever seen anything like it! Our children were amazed and all who were there were left speechless and in awe of our Lord and Saviour! He has shown himself so mightily to our family..
We cry Holy, Holy Holy is our Lord almighty!

Puppies, Puppies, PUPPIES!

First we had 2 litters of puppies with our 2 mama dogs within 2 weeks of one another..

Lhasa/Silky Terrier Puppies

Lhasa-Poo Puppies

Then we heard of a local homeschooling family who lost their Mama Pomeranian 2 days after she had a litter. They were sending out a plea for anyone who would be able to bottlefeed the babies until they were old enough to eat wet puppy food. Since the girls were already bottle feeding one of our litters due to Mama not having enough milk, they volunteered to take on the project and hence take on 2 more puppies!

Pom-Chi Pups

Then of course Ashley and Amanda took in a poor helpless Cocker Spaniel dog whose owner needed to find a new home for pronto.. and of course the end of the story is yes indeed the Cocker Spaniel ended up having a litter of puppies 2 weeks after coming to our home!

3 Cocker Puppies

So yes indeed at one time we had 4 litters, 2 of which had to be bottlefed, at one time! Thankfully, the Pom Chis went home last week and the Lhasa Poos went to very good homes as well. Now we just have to find families for the other 2 litters. It has been kind of amazing to see just how much folks from Seattle will pay and how far they will drive (2+ hours) for mixed puppies! We recently heard the statistic that in Seattle dogs now outnumber children! It has been a blessing though as we have had a chance to meet lots of new people. We are able to tell them that they have contributed to our Belize airfare fund, give them a tract and talk about the Lord. It has been a great experience in that regard. Now, if we can just get rid of all of our kittens! :o

Scenes from around the house~

Ryan found his glasses! After complaning of headaches, Dad finally convinced him that it was probably time to find those pesky glasses and start wearing them. (Someone is not suffering from the headaches any longer!)

Ok Nana~ are these your eyes or what? ♥
