Sisters' Camping Trip - Mt Jefferson Wilderness

Ashley & Amanda had a wonderful time camping with some of their most precious sisters. It was so fun to hear about their car mishaps, interesting encounters with other hikers, equipment failure and how God provided for all of it! They thoroughly enjoyed the encouraging conversations and exciting adventures. I am so blessed that our young ladies have such wonderful friends to share their lives with in this season. True friends are an amazing gift from God!

The car problems that caused the girls to have to stop and ask for help numerous times on their way up to the pass seemed to even themselves out by the time they reached their destination..

The next issue they faced was that Laura's hiking shoes which hadn't been used for a while- fell apart and the girls had to tape the soles back on!! Thankfully a park ranger set them up with adhesive!

Laura is amazing.. instead of complaining, she hiked all the way into their camping area with a full pack, miles and miles the next day on an extensive hike.. and back to the car again with taped on soles.. not complaining.

The boys had teased our girls that they were bringing everything but the kitchen sink! All the girls had some pretty heavy packs to haul in 5 miles to their camping area..

And they're off!

They finally reached their destination and were able to set up their 2 man tent that Ryan had loaned them

A room with a view!

Everyone gets a much-needed back rub!

It ended up pretty chilly- and most of the girls had only brought a sweatshirt

Nature Walk

We enjoyed more nature walks this summer! On this day we headed out to the acreage behind our rental house (and took the pony!) We saw lots of interesting things such as poison oak, ripening blackberries, honeycomb and depressions in the long grass which the little girls wisely decided were the impressions of animals, perhaps mama deer?..

It was such a sweet day!

Ryan's 20th Birthday!

Ryan's birthday fell on a Sunday which was a blessing so that we were able to celebrate on his day off! :-) We enjoyed a family drive and dinner at Subway. We are so blessed to have this amazing young man in our lives. He is such a wonderful brother and son.. we are so blessed!!

Love this sleepy birthday-boy SO much!!

Beazell Memorial Forest Hike

The girls, Coco and I enjoyed a lovely hike at Beazell Memorial Forest
The romantic story involves a man who loved his wife as well as beautiful trees.. such a meaningful place.. very grateful to have found it!

Delicious blackberries and huckleberries!

This lovely cabana reminded us all of Belize.. it provided a must needed rest for we weary hikers. It had been a very hot week but thankfully this day the temp was only in the mid 90's
