Clear Lake, OR Hike & Boat Ride

To all of our Linn County, Oregon friends- Have you found the time to visit and hike  Clear Lake ? The Kings had been camping out there and invited us to join them for a hike around the lake.

Jeremy prepares us a cup of coffee. We had gotten there later than the agreed upon time because Ryan had experienced a flare up with his cyst. They were very gracious though even though we got a late start for the hike. Also, the park ranger let them stay at their site a bit longer so as to have time to finish the hike.

The fall colors were absolutely gorgeous

Johnna & Gracie catch up

The boys, who decided to follow along the hike in the water instead carry Ryan's canoe down the hill.

The lake was a beautiful blue-green color

Moss and lichen just magnified the autumn colors

The hike meandered through both a paved walk over the lava flows as well as through the forest

The lava formations were impressive. We could clearly see the 'flow'

The boys enjoyed following us along in the boat. About halfway through the hike, the daddies headed back to camp to pack up the Kings gear. We agreed to meet up at the boat dock around the lake. We would hike the rest and they would break down camp.

We hiked and hiked..

We came around the corner and saw the boat dock.. and the path which went the rest of the way around the lake.. and realized we had TONS more distance to travel to get there! So, we decided to stay put on shore and ask Ryan to instead ferry us across the icy cold waters to the other side. Otherwise, we would have made the guys wait for at least another hour at the boat dock.

We enjoyed chatting on the soggy shore while Ryan came around with the canoe to 'rescue' us!

Yay, here he comes!

All aboard! We only had three life vests so it took him 2 trips to get us all over

Just as the ladies & Johnna got to the dock, Daddy & Mr. King who had been at the campground breaking down their campsite, arrived. Perfect timing!

Ryan gives the boys one more ride!

Grant takes one more chance for a bite

These guys are growing up!

Mr. King and daddy tie up the canoe- off to home. A lovely day
